Rarotonga is the largest of the Cook Islands, a nation of 15 islands in the central South Pacific.  Volcanic peaks, ridges, and rainforests dominate its interior.  The highest peak is the 650 meter Te Rua Manga peak or "The Needle".

Another tender port, Avatiu, but due to the high winds (25 knots) and swells of 2-3 meters, the Captain could not find a spot where the ship would be stable without using the thrusters continually.  Additionally, the tenders would have a very rough ride in.  So for the safety of the ship's crew and passengers, he chose to abort the port of Avatiu.

Circumnavigating the island we did get some great photos.
